The Honourable Paul Pike, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Community Engagement, today announced a call for applications for the 2025-26 Community Enhancement Employment Program.
This program provides funding to eligible rural project sponsors such as:
- Municipalities
- Inuit community governments
- Local service districts
- Community and economic development organizations
- Other non-profit organizations
Community Enhancement Employment Program projects must directly support tourism and economic development, community and municipal infrastructure, and/or community services. This year’s projects may commence once approved, expanding beyond the program’s traditional focus on fall and winter projects.
Individuals in rural areas can be employed on a short-term project for up to 400 hours to assist in their eligibility for federal Employment Insurance benefits. In 2024-25, the program provided funding for 132 projects, supporting approximately 693 workers.
Guidelines and applications for the Community Enhancement Employment Program are available here. Applicants can also email employmentsupport@gov.nl.ca or call toll free 1-866-508-5500 for more information.
The deadline for receipt of Community Enhancement Employment Program applications is 4:00 p.m. NT, Friday, June 20, 2025.
