The Honourable Pam Parsons, Minister of Labour, Minister of Rural Economic Development, and Minister Responsible for WorkplaceNL, today announced the appointment of Craig Dyer as a Worker Representative to the WorkplaceNL Board of Directors. His three-year term is effective immediately.
Mr. Dyer was appointed following a merit-based selection process administered by the Independent Appointments Commission, in accordance with the Independent Appointments Commission Act.
WorkplaceNL administers an employer-funded, no-fault insurance system that promotes safe and healthy workplaces, provides return-to-work programs, and offers fair compensation to injured workers and their dependents.

BACKGROUNDER
Biography
For 30 years, Craig Dyer has served in various positions on the St. John’s Local Executive of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), including president, vice-president, grievance officer and chief shop steward. He also served on many different committees, including CUPW National, Regional and Local Work Measurement Committee; CUPW Regional and Local Disciplinary Committee; CUPW Local Health and Safety Committee and a sub-committee for national negotiations. He has been the union’s representative at arbitration for 25 years and in supporting injured workers for 20 years. As a passionate advocate for a safe working environment, he has worked with other local union representatives and his employer to record and report safety hazards. He has worked directly with workers to help with their workplace injury claims and return to work. An active volunteer in his community, he is a 48-year member of the CLB and current Commanding Officer of St. Michael’s Company. He has served in various capacities on the Board of Directors for the Mount Pearl Soccer Association, the Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Association, Family and Child Care Connection, Mount Pearl Sports Alliance and Mount Pearl Frosty Festival. He is the proud father of Emily, Laura and Colin and has been married to his wife Debbie for 30 years.
