Today, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador joins Canadians across the country in observing National Child Day, a recognition of the United Nations’ commitment that every child has a right to be safe, healthy, educated and heard. This year’s theme is #OurRightsOurFuture, highlighting that children are not just tomorrow’s leaders, they are today’s innovators and changemakers.
The Provincial Government will focus on initiatives that support children and youth, including programs involving early intervention, mental health, education and family supports. These efforts aim to reduce barriers and create opportunities for all children to succeed.
The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador encourages all residents to take time today to recognize the importance of children’s rights and to support efforts that help every child reach their full potential.
Quote
“National Child Day is a time to celebrate the rights, potential, and well-being of every child in Newfoundland and Labrador. It is also a moment to reflect on our responsibility to ensure that every child can thrive – socially, emotionally and academically. By investing in their health, education, and well-being today, we are building a stronger, more inclusive Newfoundland and Labrador for tomorrow.”
