December 4, 2025

The Honourable Joedy Wall, Minister of Social Supports and Well-Being and Minister Responsible for Status of Persons with Disabilities, joined community representatives today to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which was observed on December 3, 2025.

This day is an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of persons with disabilities and reaffirm the Provincial Government’s commitment to inclusion, equality and respect. We proudly join the global community in recognizing the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities and raising awareness of the vital role they play in every aspect of life.

Minister Wall was joined by Nancy Reid from the Coalition of Persons with Disabilities Newfoundland and Labrador and members of the Network of Disability Organizations Newfoundland and Labrador for the proclamation signing.

This year’s theme, Fostering Disability Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress, reflects the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its pledge to build a more just and equitable world for all. These values guide our work here at home as we strive to create safe, sustainable, and inclusive communities.

We will continue to listen, learn, and work in partnership with persons with disabilities so that inclusion remains at the heart of everything we do. Especially as we work toward building a stronger Newfoundland and Labrador for all of us.
