The Honourable Chris Tibbs, Minister of Environment, Conservation and Climate Change, has announced the following relative to Environmental Assessment – Part 10 – of the Environmental Protection Act.

Environmental Preview Report Submitted:

Great Coastal Trail – Parson’s Pond to Daniel’s Harbour              (Reg. 2284)
Proponent: Trailhead Development Company Inc.

The proponent has submitted an Environmental Preview Report as required by the minister. This report is available on the department’s website at: www.gov.nl.ca/eccc/projects/project-2284/

Public comments regarding the Environmental Preview Report are welcome and may be sent by email to: EAProjectComments@gov.nl.ca or by mail to:

Public comments must be received by February 13, 2026; and the minister’s decision on the Environmental Preview Report is due by February 23, 2026.

Condition of Release Met:
Whitbourne (Junction Pond) Residential Development                 (Reg. 1414)
Proponent: 51710 Newfoundland and Labrador Limited

On December 23, 2025, the minister advised the proponent that the review of the carrying capacity condition of release applicable to Blockline Gully and Well’s Gully was found to be acceptable. The review was required as a condition of release from environmental assessment and is available on the  Department of Environment, Conservation and Climate Change website at: www.gov.nl.ca/eccc/projects/project-1414/

Project Released:

Crown District 21 Five-Year Forestry Operating Plan Amendment (2022-2026)
Proponent:  Department of Forestry, Agriculture and Lands       (Reg. 2376)

The project has been released from environmental assessment subject to the conditions as outlined in the minister’s decision letter available on the Department of Environment, Conservation and Climate Change website at: www.gov.nl.ca/eccc/projects/project-2376/
