The Honourable Chris Tibbs, Minister of Environment, Conservation and Climate Change, has announced the following relative to Environmental Assessment – Part 10 – of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Labrador Sedna Mineral Exploration Access Trail                           (Reg. 2390)
Proponent: Viridian Metals Corp.
The proponent is proposing to construct and operate a 66.45-kilometre access trail to connect the Orma Lake Road to the Sedna mineral exploration claim in central Labrador to provide year-round access to the exploration sites for the transporting of personnel and equipment. Construction activities would include vegetation trimming and earthworks. No watercourse crossing would be required. The undertaking was registered on February 13, 2026. The deadline for public comment is March 20, 2026, and the minister’s decision is due by March 30, 2026.

Barachois River Bridge Quarry                                                              (Reg. 2389)
Proponent: Farrell’s Excavating Ltd.

The proponent is proposing to develop and operate a 3.53-hectare sand, gravel and rock quarry approximately 3.8 kilometres northeast of Cape Ray. The quarry materials would be used for construction projects along the west coast of Newfoundland. The undertaking was registered on February 13, 2026.The deadline for public comment is March 20, 2026, and the minister’s decision is due by March 30, 2026.

Labrador West Cowboy Creek Sand and Gravel Quarry                (Reg. 2388)
Proponent: Allard Distributing Ltd.

The proponent is proposing to develop and operate a 34.7-hectare sand and gravel quarry approximately 14 kilometres east of Labrador City-Wabush. The quarry materials would be used for municipal construction projects and for the mining industry in western Labrador. The undertaking was registered on February 12, 2026.The deadline for public comment is March 20, 2026, and the minister’s decision is due by March 29, 2025.
