The following is being distributed at the request of the Independent Churchill River Review Committee:
Today, the Independent Churchill River Review Committee launched a new website to support public engagement in its independent assessment of the Memorandum of Understanding with Hydro-Québec and to evaluate whether the agreement is in the province’s best long-term interests.
The website provides an important opportunity for residents across the province to have their voices heard in discussions related to the assessment of the Memorandum of Understanding with Hydro-Québec.
To help inform its review, the Independent Review Committee is seeking public input.
Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are invited to make submissions for the committee’s consideration through the dedicated Public Participation section of the website.
Submissions must be received by Sunday, March 1, 2026. Shorter submissions, limited to 200 words, may be submitted through an online form available here, while longer submissions should be submitted by email to submissions@churchillriverreview.ca.

“I am pleased to see the launch of the new Independent Churchill River Review Committee website and the steps we are taking to encourage public participation. This review is strengthened by hearing from the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. I encourage everyone to share their thoughts, so their perspectives can help inform our independent assessment of the Memorandum of Understanding.”
