The Provincial Government is working with the agriculture industry to ensure farmers have the advice, tools and programs they need to adapt and thrive in a changing climate while supporting food self-sufficiency.

Applications for the 2026 Vegetable Transplant Program are now open to commercial vegetable producers until February 16, 2026.

The Vegetable Transplant Program offers eligible commercial farmers access to high-quality, low-cost vegetable seedlings. This helps farmers increase the amount and variety of produce they grow and helps with earlier harvests, which is important given our short, cool growing season.

Available crop varieties include cabbage, rutabaga, broccoli, cauliflower, onion, kale, lettuce, leek and asparagus – all homegrown at the Centre for Agriculture and Forestry Development in Wooddale.

In 2025, the Vegetable Transplant Program grew four million vegetable transplants, which were provided to 127 farmers.

Farmers who can show success with past programs will receive priority for access to transplants. The 2026 program guide and online application form are available on the Forestry, Agriculture and Lands website.
