Let’s Hear it! Share Your Priorities for Budget 2026

  • Finance

January 20, 2026

In the months ahead, Premier Tony Wakeham’s new government will release its first budget and, as preparations begin, the Provincial Government wants to hear from you.

This year’s pre-budget engagement process will focus on connecting with people from all regions, reflecting real experiences, real priorities, and real needs.

With a focus on the new government’s platform priorities of better healthcare, lower taxes, and safer communities, Budget 2026 will be shaped with residents and their daily lives in mind.

This engagement builds on the feedback of residents voiced in the fall election and is another opportunity to hear from people in all communities and all regions. The Provincial Government is committed to engaging with Newfoundlanders and Labradorians in a meaningful way, with as many options for connection as possible.

The Honourable Craig Pardy, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board, will meet with key stakeholders to hear what they would like to see in this year’s budget.

Residents will also have several ways to share their thoughts:

  • An online questionnaire will launch on Wednesday, January 21. The survey has two streams – one for individuals and one for businesses – and the questions focus on assessing priorities and understanding the concerns of the people of the province. The deadline to provide feedback through engageNL is Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
  • Virtual sessions will also be scheduled in the weeks ahead.
  • In addition to the online survey and virtual sessions, residents have the option to send email submissions to Budget2026@gov.nl.ca.
  • Residents may also mail written submissions to:

Input from this engagement process will not only help the Provincial Government plan for Budget 2026; it will help solidify plans for a stronger, more resilient Newfoundland and Labrador – for all of us.

Quote
“As we plan for Budget 2026, it will be so valuable to hear from the people of the province on what they want to see in our new government’s first budget. This engagement process will help outline the approach we take to restore fiscal balance while remaining true to our election commitments. I encourage residents to take part – complete the online survey, attend a virtual session, send us an email or write us a letter. Whatever works best for you – we want to hear it.”
