The Honourable Lin Paddock, Minister of Jobs, Growth and Rural Development, is congratulating Copsys Technologies on its designation to the NATO Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) program and the continued advancement of its groundbreaking Digital Skin technology. Digital Skin is a new technology that helps detect early signs of corrosion and stress on ships and other marine assets.

Copsys Technologies is in Prague, Czechia, this week to join the first session of the NATO DIANA Accelerator, hosted by Defence Hub CzechInvest. This marks the first in‑person activation for the 2026 DIANA cohort, bringing together a group of 150 global innovators under 10 vital challenges, working to align dual‑use technologies with NATO’s strategic operational requirements.

Minister Paddock also announced that the Department of Jobs, Growth and Rural Development is investing $450,000 to support the commercialization of Copsys’ Intelligent Digital Skin (CIDS) for Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada and international markets. This investment also helps to position the province as a hub for advanced tech manufacturing, driving new export opportunities, attracting research and development partnerships and creating high‑skilled jobs.

From fishing boats and supply vessels to Coast Guard ships and energy installations, CIDS has the potential to lower maintenance costs, improve efficiency and support reliable operations across the province’s ocean industries – showcasing how innovation developed right here in Newfoundland and Labrador can have a lasting impact globally.

Corrosion and marine growth are two of the leading threats to integrity, safety and efficiency for global marine and naval fleets. This smart paint is a dual use technology that continuously monitors coating integrity and delivers instantaneous electrochemical corrosion protection to exposed steel surfaces. It is an eco-friendly on-demand antifouling capability to help vessels structural integrity, to last longer and to avoid costly repairs.
