The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador offers a variety of initiatives and services that promote and support the well-being of the province’s older adult population. This guide is designed to help older adults access and navigate these programs, services, and benefits. It provides general information about a wide range of programs and services, including a description and contact information. By doing so, the guide supports the Provincial Government’s commitment to developing an inclusive, community-oriented, and age-friendly province.
It is separated into eight sections:
- Quick Help, including access to essential emergency services and crisis support;
- Well-Being, Culture, and Learning, including resources that promote a vibrant and engaged life for seniors;
- Health Services, including information on medical care, mental health programs, and prescription drug support;
- Financial Help, including financial assistance programs and federal benefits;
- Housing and Shelter Supports, including housing support and energy savings programs;
- Taking Care of Yourself and Others, including tips for physical and mental health, nutrition, self-care, and respite services;
- Other Tips, Services and Resources, including information on protection against fraud, legal advocacy, and support for diverse groups; and,
- Regional Office Contact Information, including contact information for local health services, housing offices, law enforcement, and more.
