Extrajudicial Sanctions (also known as Alternative Measures) are formalized programs providing a direct alternative to formal judicial proceedings for young people (between their 12th and 18th birthday) who are alleged to have committed an eligible offence. These programs are community-based and operated by volunteer Youth Justice Committees in partnership with the Department of Social Supports and Well-Being, Crown Attorneys and Police.
