The Arts Infrastructure and Programming Fund is a funding program designed to enhance arts infrastructure and support professional and community arts activities that increase engagement and participation in cultural activity across Newfoundland and Labrador.
Funding is available in two categories:
1) Arts Infrastructure (Facility Equipment Upgrades)
2) Arts Programming.
ELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS:
Arts Infrastructure (Facility Equipment Upgrades):
- Not-for-profit organizations that operate art-specific facilities (i.e., facilities whose primary purpose is the creation, development and/or presentation of artistic works), and
- Not-for-profit professional arts organizations that do not operate facilities, but use specialized equipment in the creation, development and/or presentation of artistic works.
Arts Programming:
- Not-for-profit community organizations with arts-based programming,
- Not-for-profit community-based arts organizations , and
- Not-for-profit professional arts organizations.
Applicants to the Arts Infrastructure and Programming Fund are required to be incorporated and in good standing as a not-for-profit organization in Newfoundland and Labrador. For information on the incorporation process or to confirm your organization is in good standing, please visit Companies and Deeds Online.
Applicants incorporated and in good standing under the Newfoundland and Labrador Registry of Companies, incorporated under the Towns and Local Service Districts Act, and Indigenous Government or Organizations are also eligible to apply to AIP.
For-profit organizations, and institutions such as places of worship, schools, and libraries are not eligible for this fund.

*Funding requests more than the maximum amounts may be considered where need for increased funding is demonstrated, and multiple sources of funding are secured. Please contact us before submitting a request above the stated maximum.
ELIGIBLE EXPENSES
Funding through the Arts Infrastructure and Programming Fund is intended to provide project support. Not all expenses are eligible to receive funding, and all requested budget items may not be approved. Examples of eligible expenditure types may include:
Arts Infrastructure (Facility Equipment Upgrades)
- Facility technical equipment such as stage/house/gallery lighting, stage rigging, curtains, sound, specialized production equipment, exhibition support, etc.
- Artistic tools or equipment.
- Accessibility improvements directly related to artistic creation or presentation may qualify; please contact us before submitting your request.
- Software purchases or upgrades may qualify (e.g., to support box office management); please contact us before submitting request.
Arts Programming
- Arts-based community programming, such as workshops, performance series, senior/ youth/ intergenerational programs, collaborative creations and cultural exchange.
- Community-based arts programming such as community-based arts practice, new creations/commissions, , productions, presentations, and exhibitions.
- Professional arts programming, such as market access, touring, professional development, and community engagement.
Note: Professional artist fees and associated travel costs are eligible project expenses in the arts programming stream.
The examples provided are not exhaustive. Should applicants have questions about the eligibility of their request, they are encouraged to contact us with their inquiries prior to finalizing their application for submission.
Please note:
- Only one application per year may be submitted to the Arts Infrastructure and Programming Fund across all components.
- Projects previously funded through AIP must be completed with final report submitted before a new application can be accepted. Any outstanding reports may impact funding disbursements in the current year.

Final reports are due within 30 days of project completion, and not later than one year from funding approval.
