Year of Sport 2025

On December 10, 2024, the Honourable Dr. Andrew Furey, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, announced that 2025 would officially be the Year of Sport in Newfoundland and Labrador. This province-wide celebration aims to enhance access to sport for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, as well as support the sport, physical activity, and recreation delivery system through targeted funding programs and initiatives.

With marquee events such as the 2025 Canada Summer Games, the Year of Sport will shine a spotlight on community sport, physical activity, recreation, volunteerism, women and inclusivity in sport, and the dedication of athletes and sport builders throughout 2025.
