Municipal Capital Works

Municipal Capital Works funding is the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s commitment to provincial investment of municipal infrastructure throughout the province. The Municipal Capital Works (MCW) program fosters the development of cost-shared projects in a wide range of municipal infrastructure.

Typical projects include water and waste-water treatment, roads, recreational facilities, town halls, fire halls, etc.

Funding is cost shared between provincial and municipal governments and is available to municipalities, local service districts, and Inuit Community Governments.

Multi-Year Capital Works

The Multi-Year Capital Works (MYCW) funding is the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s commitment of three-year blocks of funding which supports improved planning in communities which have the capacity to make multi-year commitments.

Typical projects eligible for Multi-Year Capital Works funding are water and/or sewer, paving and/or road construction, municipal buildings and recreation facilities.

Funding is cost shared between provincial and municipal governments that have been designated as multi-year communities.

Current MYCW communities are noted in the Multi-Year Capital Works Allocations (2017-20) (77 kB).

Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund

CHIF aims to accelerate the construction and upgrading of housing-enabling drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and solid-waste infrastructure, directly supporting the creation of new homes and preserving existing. This investment is part of the Government of Canada’s commitment to address the impacts of the housing crisis on communities of all sizes across Canada.
