Notice of Intent
To apply for a shoreline development, you must complete a Notice of Intent and it must be published in the Newfoundland and Labrador Gazette within 21 days of submitting your application. More information on publishing in the Gazette is available here: The Newfoundland and Labrador Gazette – Digital Government and Service NL.
If an application includes the shoreline reservation, this department must publish the application and additional information as outlined below on this website as required under Section 7(5) of the Lands Act within five days of receiving the application.
Notices are posted for all new and existing applications for boathouses/wharves/access roads, etc. Note that existing infrastructure requires a notice as well. Notices are posted as they are received at the Regional Lands Offices.
Included in the notice, the following information must be published on the department’s website:
- the exception under which the application is being made;
- a description of the lands in respect of which the application is being made; and
- notice that a person who wishes to object to the application must file the objection with reasons for it with the minister within 30 days from the date the notice is posted on the department’s website.
