Project Description:

The proponent plans to construct and operate a 25.3 hectare rock quarry at the junction of the Trans-Canada Highway and the Foxtrap Access Road within the City of St. John’s development area. An access road is planned from Incinerator Road to the west side of the quarry. Construction will include building the access road and stripping the terrain to access the underlying rock. The operation will include drilling, blasting, crushing, and stockpiling. The processed aggregate will be provided to local interests. Reclamation will be determined by the requirements of a quarry permit or lease.

• May 28, 2018 – The undertaking was registered.
• July 2, 2018 – Deadline for public comments.
• July 12, 2018 – The Minister’s Decision is due.
• October 18, 2018 – The Minister announced that the project is released.
• December 3, 2020 – The Minister announced the Viewscape Management Plan was approved.
• January 29, 2025 – The term of the Minister’s decision is expired.
