Project Description:

The proponent has submitted a five-year operating plan for Crown Planning Zone 4 (Forest Management District 7). Planning Zone 4 is located on the south coast of Newfoundland in the area of Bay d’Espoir. The northern boundary extends to Berry Hill Pond on the Bay d’Espoir highway and to Great Burnt Lake and Meelpaeg Lake in the northwest. The plan describes proposed commercial and domestic timber harvesting operations, the construction forest access roads, and silviculture activities. The plan covers the period from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2027.

• July 27, 2022 – The undertaking was registered.
• September 1, 2022 – Deadline for public comments.
• September 10, 2022 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• September 24, 2022 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• October 8, 2022 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• October 14, 2022 – The Minister determined the project is released.
