Project Description:

The proponent is proposing the construction and operation of an additional 150 MW (nominal) generating unit (Unit 8) at the Bay d’Espoir hydroelectric generating facility. The proposed project is an extension to an existing Powerhouse 2 and will include a generating facility, water conveyance system and transmission facilities.

• August 8, 2025 – The undertaking was registered.
• September 12, 2025 – Deadline for public comments.
• September 22, 2025 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• November 14, 2025 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• November 13, 2025 – The Minister determined the project is released.
