Project Description:

The Proponent is proposing to develop and operate a two-hectare sand and gravel quarry located at Flowers Hill near Botwood, in central Newfoundland. Development of the undertaking would include the construction of an access road, clearing of vegetation and grubbing of soils. The purpose of the quarry is to provide material for local construction projects.

• January 25, 2024 – The undertaking was registered.
• March 1, 2024 – Deadline for public comments.
• March 10, 2024 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• March 22, 2024 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• April 5, 2024 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• April 1, 2024 – Environmental Preview Report (EPR) is required.
• April 1, 2024 – Environmental Assessment Committee (EAC) appointed.
• May 31, 2024 – The EPR Guidelines are due to be issued.
• May 27, 2024 – EPR Guidelines Issued.
• October 11, 2024 – EPR Submitted for Review.
• November 15, 2024 – Public Comments due on the EPR.
• November 25, 2024 – The Minister’s decision is due on the EPR.
• October 25, 2024 – Updates to EPR Mapping.
• November 29, 2024 – Public Comments due for updated EPR.
• December 9, 2024 – The Minister’s decision is due on updated EPR.
• December 5, 2024 – The Minister determined the Project is released.
