Project Description:
The proponent is proposing to construct and operate a 2,500 to 3,200 megawatt (MW) onshore wind energy project consisting of 515 turbines in the isthmus of the Avalon to south of Clarenville in Eastern Newfoundland. The industrial facilities will include an electrolyzer capacity of 2,000 to 2,500 MW and ammonia production capacity of 4,400 to 5,550 tonnes per day.
- July 29, 2025 – The undertaking was registered.
- September 2, 2025 – Deadline for public comments.
- September 12, 2025 – The Minister’s decision is due.
- September 9, 2025 – The Minister determined that an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is required.
- September 10, 2025 – Environmental Assessment Committee is appointed.
- January 7, 2026 – EIS Guidelines due to be issued.
- November 6, 2025 – Draft EIS Guidelines for public review.
- December 16, 2025 – Deadline for public comments on Draft EIS Guidelines.
- December 19, 2025 – Approved EIS Guidelines Issued.
