Project Description:
The proponent is proposing to construct a trailhead gateway and a 28-kilometre multi-use trail for walking and biking, as the first stage of the Great Coastal Trail development project. The proposed trail would begin in Parson’s Pond and end in Daniel’s Harbour, following a route between the coast and Route 430. Construction of the trail would include tree cutting, pruning, vegetation clearing and installing bridges. Construction of the gateway would include bike parking, information kiosks, and outdoor seating.
- January 4, 2024 – The undertaking was registered.
- February 8, 2024 – Deadline for public comments.
- February 18, 2024 – The Minister’s decision is due.
- March 1, 2024 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
- March 1, 2024 – Environmental Preview Report (EPR) required.
- March 1, 2024 – Environmental Assessment Committee appointed.
- April 30, 2024 – EPR Guidelines due to be issued.
- April 26, 2024 – EPR Guidelines Issued.
- March 3, 2025 – Proponent change to TDCI.
- January 9, 2026 – Environmental Preview Report Submitted.
- February 13, 2026 – Deadline for Public Comments on the EPR.
- February 23, 2026 – Minister’s Decision on the EPR is due.
